Project Janus — Synopsis
In 1994, Russian physicist Dimitri arrives in the Netherlands and meets Mark, a brilliant young scientist at TU Delft. Their friendship begins at the dawn of quantum computing and grows into a lifelong pursuit of one impossible question: could another version of our lives exist somewhere beyond the reality we know?
More than fifty years later, their research has become JANUS — an advanced quantum computer powered by artificial intelligence. Built on real concepts such as quantum superposition, entanglement, quantum error correction and the Many-Worlds interpretation, Janus detects what appears to be another branch of reality.
Then it discovers something even more extraordinary: a way for human consciousness to cross into it.
For Mark, whose obsession with science has cost him his marriage to Laura, the discovery offers the ultimate temptation — the possibility of entering a world where he made different choices.
Dimitri is offered the same chance to recover the life and love he once lost.
But while Mark chooses to cross, Dimitri chooses to remain.
